FAQs about The GAA
The GAA, or Gaelic Athletic Association, is Ireland's largest sporting organisation. It is an amateur, non-profit organisation that promotes and governs traditional Irish sports like Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, Gaelic handball, and rounders. The GAA also fosters Irish culture, including music, song, dance, and the Irish language.
Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, Gaelic handball, and rounders are all played in the GAA.
We show Gaelic Football and Hurling. We frequently show games from the All-Ireland Senior Football and Hurling Championships and occasionally show games from club level if available.
Please be aware that with our subscription we can only show one game from the GAA at once, and we are limited by fixture times.
If there is a particular game that you want to watch, get in touch with us beforehand and we will let you know if we are able to show it.
The GAA is played throughout in the first half of the year, usually from January to July with occasional games later in the year.
Gaelic football is played at different levels, with the biggest tournaments happening in the summer:
1. Club Level (Local Teams)
- Local club teams play throughout the year in local leagues.
- Clubs that perform well here can compete in the All-Ireland.
2. All Ireland Senior Football Championship
- Each county has a team made up of the best club players.
- Counties compete in provincial championships (Leinster, Munster, Connacht, Ulster).
- The top teams from each province then compete in a knock-out championship until one team emerges as the winner.
Bookings are certainly welcome if you want to guarantee a space, and we do also welcome walk-ins.
